HOW CAN YOU PROTECT YOURSELF?
- Avoid downloading apps from unverified sources - Only download apps from verified app stores such as Google Play or Apple app store.
- Update and avoid outdated software on your device - Keep your software for apps and operating systems up to date, as new versions are updated to fix security flaws.
- Review app permissions - Assess each App before you grant permission to access contacts, locations and photos.
- Jailbreaking or rooting devices - Avoid changing your mobile device settings to give you full access to your device’s operating system and features. This can make your device vulnerable to malicious attacks.
- Protect your device - Make sure your device is password or biometric protected. e.g: fingerprint or facial recognition.
- Turn off Wi-Fi & Bluetooth; - Beware of free WIFI - Avoid accessing sensitive information when using free WiFi. e.g. banking and sensitive emails.
